Killswitch

Nut Width

Nut width is an essential specification when shopping for a guitar, as it determines playability in the open position and determines string spacing.

Narrower nut widths make it easier to reach each string and less cramped in the open position, especially for players with larger hands. On the other hand, wider nut widths may make playing in this position more challenging as you must extend your fingers farther to reach each string.

The nut on your guitar acts as an anchor point, raising the strings at their proper distance from the first fret. Additionally, it helps hold them firmly in place when playing aggressively, keeping them from slipping out of tune.

Acoustic guitars offer a range of nut widths from 38mm to 47mm.

Body & Neck
